R5550 Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer
Built for RF and wireless test engineers, spectrum monitoring and surveillance teams, and defense and signals intelligence (SIGINT) operators, the thinkRF R5550 is a compact, real-time spectrum analyzer that scans RF spectrum from 9 kHz to 27 GHz continuously, capturing signals with up to 40 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth. Fanless and network-connected, it operates in the lab, field, or vehicle with remote control over 1G Ethernet, and integrates with custom applications via SCPI, VITA-49 VRT, and LibTRF APIs. Paired with thinkRF’s Spectraware software, it delivers real-time signal analysis without the size or infrastructure of traditional lab instruments.

Compact, fanless, networked and remote deployable real-time spectrum analyzer

Reliable, High Speed, Uninterrupted Wireless Networks with the thinkRF R5550
The thinkRF R5550 is a real-time spectrum analyzer built on innovative software-defined radio (SDR) technology, delivering greater flexibility, broader coverage, and increased functionality compared to traditional hardware-based instruments. Its highly optimizable architecture allows capabilities to be extended through software without replacing hardware.
Designed for spectrum monitoring and deployment applications, the thinkRF R5550 combines improved spectral performance with a lightweight, fanless, and portable form factor – enabling in-depth analysis of complex and wideband waveforms in demanding spectrum environments.
Deploy in more locations with a compact, fanless form factor designed for lab, field, vehicle, and remote in-place monitoring applications.
Capture complex waveforms across a 9 kHz to 27 GHz frequency range with up to 100 MHz real-time instantaneous bandwidth.
Analyze 5G NR and other modern signals using easily upgradable, software-based SDR technology – no hardware replacement required.
Extend performance to 27 GHz by pairing with any third-party spectrum analyzer hardware using standard APIs.
Expand instantaneous bandwidth to 160 MHz with WBIQ models, using an external dual-channel digitizer sampling at 250 MSa/s.

Wide Frequency Range
The thinkRF R5550 supports a frequency range from 9 kHz to 27 GHz, covering the full span of modern wireless systems including 4G LTE, 5G NR, and legacy bands. This range enables tests such as third-order intercept point (TOI) measurement and other demanding characterization tasks without requiring additional frequency extension hardware.
Networked & Remote Deployable
The thinkRF R5550 is designed for networked deployment, with capabilities purpose-built for remote and in-place spectrum monitoring. A standard GigE interface supports streaming rates of 360 Mbit/s, making the thinkRF R5550 well-suited for dispersed, continuous monitoring across multiple locations from a single control point.

SWaP Compact & PC-Driven
The thinkRF R5550 connects to any standard PC via Ethernet, leveraging modern computing and networking advances without requiring proprietary controllers or dedicated hardware. Its compact, lightweight, and low-power design makes it well-suited for deployment in the lab, on vehicles, or as part of a larger distributed monitoring solution.
Unlike traditional bulky spectrum analyzers, the thinkRF R5550 is easily upgradable through software, extending its capabilities without requiring hardware replacement.
APIs & Protocols Proven Integrations
The thinkRF R5550 supports integration with custom applications and third-party software through three open APIs:
● SCPI – instrument control compatibility with standard test automation frameworks
● VITA-49 VRT – standardized data streaming with embedded metadata
● LibTRF – C/C++ library for direct hardware access and custom application development

Best Price Performance Ratio on the Market
The thinkRF R5550 delivers the best price-to-performance ratio in its class, enabling a wide range of spectrum analysis applications without exceeding budget constraints.
Key performance specifications include a frequency range up to 27 GHz, 160 MHz instantaneous bandwidth (WBIQ models), a sweep rate of 28 GHz/s, and greater than 100 dB dynamic range – providing the measurement depth needed to capture and characterize complex modern waveforms including 5G NR signals.
